versity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=165&proposalid=16537\n\n\n\nHigher educat
ion institutions face unique challenges in advancing data governance while
balancing equity, compliance, and innovation. This session shares insights
from San Diego Community College District’s (SDCCD) ongoing data jour
ney, highlighting lessons learned in building governance foundations and pr
eparing for responsible AI adoption.\n\nThis Higher Education Data Governan
ce & EDW Affinity Group provides a peer-driven forum aligned with other
DGIQ-EDW (Enterprise Data World) Affinity Groups, emphasizing shared exper
iences and practical discussion rather than formal presentation. \n\nD
rawing from SDCCD’s work aligned with Vision 2030 and the California
Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCO) Data Governance & A
nalytics Workgroup (DGAW), the facilitator will introduce discussion prompt
s grounded in real-world governance and EDW efforts. These prompts will foc
us on breaking down silos, building trust in data, and supporting data-info
rmed decision-making across a multi-college district. Participants are enco
uraged to share challenges, lessons learned, and approaches that complement
broader DGIQ-EDW themes around governance, analytics, and AI readiness, wh
ile building connections that extend beyond the conference.\n\n
Aligning data governance foundations with institutional strategy and priori
ties\n
Breaking down siloed systems to improve confidence in shared reports and me
trics\n
Scaling stewardship, data literacy, and compliance in decentralized environ
ments\n
Supporting equity, access, and student success through trusted data practic
es\n
Preparing governance and data foundations for responsible AI adoption\n
Navigating change management across IT, IR, academic, and executive stakeho
lders\n\nWe receive many requests from conference participants to meet othe
r attendees from the same industry or with similar interests. These Af
finity Groups will enable you to meet others from your indus
try who have very similar challenges and questions, and to share experience
in addressing those issues. Each group will have an experienced leader to
guide the conversation, but the purpose is mostly to encourage conversation
between group participants, and hopefully carry over these networking oppo
rtunities into useful ongoing professional connections.\n\n\n
