versity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=165&proposalid=16351\nThe data architectu
re landscape is filled with buzzwords and competing vendor claims, each pro
mising to be the ultimate solution. Most of what is promoted as architectur
e blurs the lines between patterns, technologies, implementation, and fads.
There are more choices than the data warehouse vs lakehouse question, or t
he central vs distributed decision. In reality, organizations rely on multi
ple patterns that exist in a data ecosystem.\n\nThis course focuses on unde
rstanding patterns—the fundamental building blocks of modern data arc
hitectures. Through a brief history of data systems from recent decades, we
will clarify and categorize the most common architectural patterns. We&#39
;ll discuss their strengths, limitations, and why multiple patterns exist.\
n\nParticipants will gain a solid understanding of the real-world implicati
ons of various data architecture system patterns, from basic data collectio
n to embedded machine learning. We’ll explore how these patterns
influence technology choices and team structures, helping you to better de
termine what to change and make informed decisions about what to build.\n\n
By the end of this workshop, students will have a clear understanding of th
e various architectural patterns used in modern data platforms, how to matc
h them to specific business needs, and how to recognize the strengths and l
imitations of each.
